Hello there everyone, this week
has been really quick. It's amazing how some weeks tend to just disappear in a
flash.. and transfers are tonight, so I have no idea as to what will happen for
me now.. I've been here for 7.5 months and have really loved Kisumu. It's my long
time in a single area, so at this point anything can happen, I could stay or
go, we won't know till tonight.
So I will only write some
highlights for the week. We taught David this week and had a really long lesson
with him, 3 hours long, and at the end of it, we came to feel that he has come
full circle from where he began. It comes down to two doctrines that he has
problem with, the Restoration of the Priesthood on the earth and only being
held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and also the necessity
to be baptized by someone holding that authority. There are truly no loop holes
when it comes to Salvation. It's either we follow the path which Christ has
established or we walk off and get lost in "strange paths". We
challenged him to pray specifically if the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints is the only true church on the earth and if the Priesthood has been
restored, but he dodged asking specifically, We feel that he knows he will get
the answer, and once he does, how will he tell his family and those that he
Pastored over for 30+ years.. So it's really sad to see the degression that he
has made, but we will keep supporting him and teaching him, for we know that if
he will come to know the Book of Mormon is true, everything else will fall into
place for him.
We had quite a few bounces during
the week which was rough, but we were able to fill our time with some good
activities. We went and did service at the Orphanage again where they had us
sweep again. While sweeping we finished one area and moved to the next then all
of a sudden this big German Shepherd crawls out from under the fence and we
froze not knowing what we should do. I went fro the wheelbarrow while my
companion stood with his broom. Once the dog saw that we weren't coming closer,
it turned around back under the fence where it was protecting its puppies. We
had a fun time doing service, we took goofy pictures with our broom sticks, and
overall just enjoyed.
Yesterday, during Fast and
Testimony meeting, there were some super powerful testimonies born. Sister
Lilian the one with three triplets bore testimony of prayer and the hymns of
the church, really opens your eyes to how amazing hymns are and how inspiring
they are. The First Presidency message in the front, says it perfect,
So today we had a busy morning, we had an awesome lunch at
Java House the really nice restaurant in town, and then while buying some tire
shoes at the market, this guy came up to us and totally wanted to bash. Bashing
is worthless because it accomplishes nothing, so we talked for a few minutes
then he said that he is Christ so we got up and left. Well on our way to the
cyber, we found a Camel and totally got to ride it! Yeah we may not have bikes
or Cars, but we sure do have Camels!Well thats all for this week,
Love always,
Elder Rushton Jay Hiltbrand
