So this week has been another busy one, that seems to be
very usual in the mission field, day in day out week after week the work keeps
us busy, but thats how I like it. Talking with family on Mother's day was great,
to be honest it was weird though because it's like hey they're family, I'll be home
in a month... so yeah.. haha makes you realize that mission comes to an end
some day, and that upon return home it will feel like a whole different world.
You start to forget that there is life outside of the mission field, it becomes
everything you know, what you think about, and it becomes a part of you. It
will be hard to leave it all, but I'm glad that won't happen for a while.
In a nutshell, this week was MLC (Mission Leadership
Council) with all of the Zone Leaders and Sisters Training Leaders in the Kenya
Nairobi Mission. A meeting when all leaders come together like this only
happens once per year, so it was pretty cool. We had almost all the
missionaries come on Tuesday (in which while picking them up we got stuck in a
massive rain storm and 4 hours of traffic), then the council on Wednesday then
sent them all back on Thursday. The Counselling together went really well, we covered
a lot of great topics and made some great decisions as to how the work can
improve going forward. I know I've explained it before, but for all those who
don't know, what happens is the leaders for each zone come together with
questions and a desire to know as to how to better lead their zones and then we
cover certain topics and within the topics we counsel how to best meet the
needs of the mission. The spirit is really strong and you can feel the
inspiration flowing. So that took place on Wednesday.

Thursday we took the respective leaders to the airport and
bus stations to get them on their way back to their areas.
Friday we were able to proselyte which was great, we did a
lot of finding, and taught a two friends, one named Roland and the other Kennedy.
Roland had come to church on Sunday and when we had scheduled an appointment
with him, he invited his friend to come a long. They had great questions and
very interesting backgrounds. Roland was raised a Catholic, but then left
Catholicism for a Protestant church, then switched to be a Rastafarian (Yes, it's
an actual religion) and now he has left that and is investigating the church.
He is really cool and talks with a total rasta type accent! Kennedy was born
and raised in the Friends church (Quakers church) but he hasn't been to church
in a while, he only goes when he goes back to the village. He had tons of
questions, but shows a lot of commitment. We tried to give them a brief
synopsis of the church and to address some of their questions, but so frequent
are investigators questions answered by coming to church, praying and keeping
commitments. So we are looking forward to teaching them
Well that's just about it for the week, not a whole lot, but
it was pretty busy for us with preparations and training and such, this next
week we don't really have any meetings, so we are looking forward to that.
Well thank you all for your love and support,
Love always,
Elder Rushton Jay Hiltbrand
