ANSWERS TO MOM'S QUESTIONS:

How much money do you get a month? 15000 ksh or 150 usd.

Dad was wondering if the kids go to a formal school. Do they learn English?

So all the kids here go to school, its called primary school then secondary school and then I'm not sure. The whole thing is really quite confusing. They are on the British school set up with forms and such. They learn English  but depending on the kid, some know a lot while others know very little. It seems all they know is "how are you" and "fine". Not sure when they start or end, but they get 3 months of breaks throughout the year one month at a time.

What do the people do all day in the villages around you? The people work in their shambas (gardens/fields) or sit around and talk, it's really quite a boring life, shamba digging and sitting around. All the men sit around and do nothing, it is the culture here. Women work very hard and the men sit around and do nothing. Its really quite strange.. the men are huge drinkers of pombe here, the kamba traditional alcohol, so we encounter plenty of drunks. The members struggle with that problem as well.

This is called the Money Maker. It is a pedal run irrigation system that Brother Lenard bought. He loves it when I operate it because of my size. I can pump a ton of water up the hill from the river to his fields. haha
